Museums of Cebu Philippines
December 11th 2011
I love to see museums, they tell you more about the city or place that you are in. I met a woman thru Couch Surfing (couchingsurfing.org) For those who don't know what Couch surfing is, it's a group of people who share there homes and host you. They will tell you more about the place you are in. You could call them a tour guide. There are Couch Surfers all around the world and it's a great way to meet new people and to make new friends from different cultures.
I met Dana, she is 28 years old, from Cebu. We met at a punk/rock show, I was with Mat who also was a couch surfer too. Dana knew Mat was at the show and came down to join us. We had a great time together and I told Dana I wanted to see some museums in Cebu. She did her home work and found out there are 13 museums in Cebu, which she didn't know. We planed on going to the museums on Sunday, but as it turned out, there were only two open. So off into city we went in a taxi, we forgot to get the address to the Casa Gorordo Museum. It was like chasing your own tail, we knew we were in the right area of town, but just could not find the right street, we asked locals, taxi drivers, Jeepneys drivers and all of them told us to go in different directions. The taxi driver was even on his two way radio trying to get directions to the museum. After a couple of wrong turns and one ways we found the place.
Casa Gorondo is the oldest house in Cebu, it's is 400 years old. The house was made out of wood and at one time a Priest lived there. The sad thing about this house is that you could not take pictures while you were in the house. So the pictures you see will be of a other museum that was one block away.
Yap Sandiego Ancestral House was the second museum we saw, it was very old too and had many cool things made out of wood. The pictures you will see are from that house. I love to see where and how people live back 400 years ago.
After a great day of seeing museums, we when to the famous Larsian BBQ. It is a big tented area with many BBQ vendors selling, pork, chicken, fish and other things you can put on a stick and grill.
Thanks Dana for showing me a great way to see the city I'm in.

Organic Resort! Bohol Philippines
December 8th 2011
There is a island that sit S.E. from Cebu Philippines. It's called Bohol. Life on this island is much slower than the big city of Cebu. People go there to get away from the city living and relax or sit on sand beaches or to scuba dive.. You will see many people from all around the world taking in the sun and water. There are two ways to get there, take a passenger boat or fly there. The boat takes a hour and half and the plane will get you there in a half a hour. I took the boat for two reasons, one to be on the water, and the cost was cheaper.
I was invite to go there with Emil and his family. Emil goes there once a week for business, so he knows the Bohol very well, he also has a rest house there which were going to stay in. I love the pace of life there, slow and easy. People are very friendly and have a welcoming smile when you seem them.
I am always on the search for honey when I travel, and there was a resort called Beehive Resort, The resort was only 10 minutes from the rest home, so of course I had to go. I didn't know what to expect, since there are many resorts on this island. When we drove into the main part of the resort, I knew I was going to love it. The owners practice organic growing, all the food they grow they sell or use in there Restro. They are also know for there great ice cream. I had mango and ginger ice cream, very tasty and freshly made. I wish that more resorts would practice this style of business.
Enjoy the slice of heaven that i was in!
